You Are A Designer Original!

I have always enjoyed dressing up. It’s one of my favorite forms of self expression. Clothes allow you to morph based on your mood or the occasion.

Still it’s easy in today’s Insta-glam world to question one’s sense of style. The current fascination with OOTD (outfit of the day) and red carpet looks can make us feel like we should roll out of bed appearing as if we’ve been professionally styled to the nines! And social media has only upped the ante, compelling many of us to chronicle every sartorial move we make.

I often wonder how emotionally healthy it is to become so obsessed with how things appear on the outside that we forget to pay equal attention to what’s within. I was reminded of a Bible verse, Colossains 3:12, which talks about how we should really dress ourselves:

“Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience.”

So the next time I catch myself having a moment in the mirror over some outfit that isn’t quite working out, I’ll remember that passage and shift my focus to what really matters.

Remember: each one of us is a designer original, a singular creation who will always shine just by being our authentic selves.
